“The most resounding conflict in Kent 2,000 years ago pitted Julius Caesar against the Britons who resisted his two invasions of 55 and 54BC. A smaller skirmish is now taking place as evidence emerges to indicate that historians have been wrong about where the Roman army landed.

An archaeologist based at Leicester University has found a Roman spearhead at Ebbsfleet on the Isle of Thanet that he believes was left behind by Caesar’s forces during their second invasion in 54BC.”
